Subjected to a terrifying ritual by a medicine man in Papua New Guinea, vicar Aiden Fleischer finds both himself and his assistant, Clarissa, transported from the 1880s to a strange alien planet. Weak and disoriented, they are met by the Yatsill, an alien race who, on accessing Clarissa's mind, begin to change their entire civilization to replicate the Victorian era. As the missionaries struggle to adapt to this strange land, the very worst aspects of Victorian London society begins to erupt as it soon becomes clear that they might have brought Jack the Ripper to this alien world.
